Our chosen charitable partner, the Varkey Foundation, builds new classrooms and centres of learning, addresses global teaching capacity and seeds excellence and innovation in the next generation of educators.
The Varkey Foundation's project in Uganda has, since 2013, successfully delivered teacher training to 2313 School Leaders, who in turn have trained over 23,000 front-line teachers and thus impacted on over 1,000,000 learners.
The programme has grown from delivering the in-structural Leadership Programme to head teachers, to including training in the Primary Teacher Colleges, setting up and supporting Satellite Schools and ensuring termly Continuous Professional Development for teachers on topics that are relevant to their context in the districts of operation. The Programme also works with partners to improve pedagogical practices in the schools that they work with.
The Varkey Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation committed to ensuring that every child has an opportunity to receive quality education. Every child deserves a vibrant, stimulating learning environment that awakens and supports their full potential. We believe nothing is more important to achieving this than the passion and quality of teachers.
We support global teaching capacity and seed excellence and innovation in the next generation of educators. We also founded the Global Teacher Prize to shine a spotlight on the incredible work teachers do all over the world.
